Happy Holiday from Retail

I was able to work on 2008 Hallmark holiday windows that are displayed in Crown Common on 4th floor. Lee and I were concepting together to make these banners look very simple, cute and fresh by focusing on type treatments. I created letters in shapes of dots to mimic Christmas ornaments and wreaths and used fun colors of pink and green to be pop up on red background.

Felted Soaps

It was at Crafty Chicks this November when I first saw hand crafted felted soaps and found couple other felted soaps on Etsy. I thought these were so cute and clever and not very hard to make at home. These would be a great gift for Holiday, too.

This year's Halloween has become most exciting ever because I had the FIRST pumpkin carving experience. Today, my team had a pumpkin carving contest and my partner, Nate and I won for the best pumpkin! Big thanks to Nate who gathered all the crazy stuffs like Hedge Apple and Snake Gourds. We've come up with a theme, 'Pumpkin Monster' or 'Alien' inspired by a movie 'Mar's attack'. I designed a creature on Photoshop based on our concept. I did carving swirl patterns outside of the pumpkin mimicking the monster's curvy legs, and Nate cut holes into snake gourds creating dots patterns just like octopus legs. It was so difficult to pick the best one because everyone did great jobs (No wonder!). I was so proud of being part of my team, the most creative and energetic. It was so much fun pumpkin carving experience, and I'm already waiting for next year's Halloween.

Domo Halloween @ Target

I recently visited Target and couldn't keep my eyes off on these fascinating pieces hanging and sitting everywhere in the store. These 'too CUTE to be scary ' Halloween retail designs featured Japanese Character 'Domo Kun'. Target always does great stuff like this and I am so jealous on what they've done with Domo.

Here's some words for you who don't know Domo Kun:

"Meet Domo, hatched from a mysterious egg in an underground cave. Beneath the thick fur and large teeth lies a kind, optimistic and somewhat naive personality. He watches a bit too much TV, which leads to Domo imagining himself as different characters in a variety of settings - often with delightfully disastrous results."

Pink for Halloween

I don't really do anything for Halloween but I am so inspired by this Halloween decoration that I found at www.hostessblog.com. I love the use of 'Pink', my favorite color. It's not ordinary Halloween but super fresh and trendy!
